About Us
The Home Doctor was founded by Gary Abrams in 1980.
Even as a child Gary had a natural mechanical aptitude. He was involved in hands-on projects around the house with his Dad from an early age and even built a functional 2 person hovercraft in the garage as a teenager. He was raised on the Westside and earned a bachelors degree from UCLA. Upon graduation he recognized a need in the community for home improvement services on a professional level so he founded The Home Doctor.
Through years of hard work, personal service and attention to detail, the scope of work he handles as The Home Doctor has grown to over 40 trades providing "one call" service for almost anything a home can need. Gary and his staff have literally hundreds of years of cumulative experience. Gary believes in old fashioned customer service responding to all requests for service personally, usually seven days a week. Emergencies are no problem.
As a way of sharing valuable information he has gleaned over the years he has been writing articles focusing on basic home safety, maintenance and how-to information for a variety of publications since 1989, including the Los Angeles Times, Ventura County Star and Pacific Palisadian Post. Gary has been married to Mara since 1981 and has two sons, Jason and Drew.
